Exposing the Media!

“How many of you believe what the media has to say?” This is the question we ask students and teachers all across America. The response is always the same: at least 98 percent of those we come in contact with don’t believe everything the media presents as the absolute truth. Why? Does the media take a nonbiased approach to the facts or do they allow their own opinions to influence what they present to the people? It is important that you examine all the information presented to you, regardless of who it comes from, so you can make sound decisions based on facts and not on popular opinion (as the media would have you believe).

Here are the facts. You decide for yourself! Straight from the mouths of those who report the news:

"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."

— Richard Salant, former president of CBS

"News reporters are certainly liberal and left of center."

— Walter Cronkite, former CBS news anchor

"We are going to impose our agenda on the coverage by dealing with the issues and subjects that we choose to deal with."

— Richard Cohan, senior producer at CBS

"The New York Times is deliberately pitched to the liberal point of view."

— Herman Dismore, foreign editor of The New York Times

"The news media in general are liberals."

— Barbara Walters, television personality

So, what does the media truly believe? Robert Lichter and Stanley Rothman, two media scholars, interviewed 240 news anchors, editors, and news writers. Here’s what they found:

• 47 percent believed adultery (unfaithfulness in marriage) is OK. This is illegal in 28 states. However, the law has not been enforced since World War II. How many families have been destroyed by adultery? How many of you are from broken homes?

• 76 percent saw nothing wrong with homosexuality, rightly called, “crimes against nature.” Did you know that up until 1973, homosexuality was considered a mental illness? Did you know it was illegal in every state in this country to be gay? You could receive 15 years in prison if discovered. Is this why homosexuality is being pushed in the media to convince people that a majority of our country is gay, when less than 3 percent of Americans claim to be homosexual?

• 90 percent were for aborting babies. Up until 1973, it was illegal to abort a baby. It still is, according to your Constitution. Yet, from 1973 to 2004, 48,589,993 babies were aborted, which is nearly 18 percent of our country’s total population. That is equivalent to the population of almost six New York cities. The media ignore the wishes of the majority. In 1962, John F. Kennedy was asked what he thought of abortion. He replied, “That is barbaric!”

Did you know it is illegal to kill whales in this country?

Title I: Conservation and Protection of Marine Mammals 16 U.S.C. 1371 Sec.101. (a) Imposition; exceptions There shall be a moratorium on the taking (to harass, hunt, capture, or kill, or attempt to harass, hunt, capture or kill any marine mammal) and importation of marine mammals and marine mammal products, commencing on the effective date of this chapter, during which time no permit may be issued for the taking of any marine mammal and no marine mammal or marine mammal product may be imported into the United States except in the following cases:...

But, over 3,700 babies a day are aborted in this country!

Did you know that it is illegal to pick flowers?

85.20, Minnesota Statutes 2007 85.20 VIOLATION OF RULES; LITTERING; PENALTIES. Subdivision 1. Violation of rules. Any person who, within the limits of any state park, state monument, state recreation area, state wayside, or area of state land reserved from sale, as provided by Laws 1923, chapter 430, shall willfully cut, injure, or destroy any live tree, shrub, timber, evergreen, or ornamental plant of any kind, or who shall willfully injure, remove, destroy, deface, or mutilate any guideboard, guidepost, furniture, fixture, improvement, monument, tablet, or other property of the state of any kind, or who shall willfully violate, or fail to comply with, any rule of the commissioner adopted and promulgated in accordance with the provisions of Laws 1923, chapter 430, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. http://www.revisor.leg.state.mn.us/stats/85/20.html

But, over 3,700 babies a day are aborted in this country!

Now people are protesting Kentucky Fried Chicken for cruelty to chickens! But, over 3,700 babies a day are aborted in this country!

“Roe” Humbly Pleads For 1973 Abortion Ruling To Be Overturned

At the news conference in front of the Supreme Court, McCorvey said she has felt responsible for “the deaths of millions of children” who have been aborted since 1973. “I want the Supreme Court to know that abortion hurts women as well as killing their child.” — Norma McCorvey “Roe” (http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/1/192005a.asp)

Read your Fifth Amendment!

Why is it that Madonna and Britney Spears are on the front page of newspapers all over the world, rather than our young men and women who are overseas fighting for our (supposed) liberty? Iraq wins their liberty while America loses theirs! Dads, moms, brothers, sisters, uncles, and aunts are dying while the media pushes an immoral agenda and do everything possible to cover-up the sacrifice. As of May 2008, there were 4,083 American war deaths since the beginning of the conflict… “Freedom is not free!” The main media netw orks purposely hide the causality count.

Why is it that since September 11, 2001 the media continuously push fear, fear and more fear? Not courage, but fear; not bravery, but fear; not valor, but fear. Did you know that over 200 years ago, James Madison said, “If tyranny or oppression ever come into this country, it will come in the disguise of fighting a foreign enemy”?

Look at how your founding forefathers are now under attack. Time magazine is belittling Thomas Jefferson by calling him a “radical mind.” This helps explain why your Constitution is continually under attack. Abraham Lincoln said, “America can never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” (that it would come from within, not without).

Congressman Jim McDermott rightly said, “You can get people to do anything with the use of fear.” Did you know that every time this fear gauge goes to a higher level, the president’s ratings go up? What was on the front page of the newspaper two days before the last presidential campaign? Terrorist threats!

What about the Patriot Act? You know…give up your rights for your safety. The word Patriotism is defined as, “Love of one’s country; the passion which aims to serve one’s country; Protecting its RIGHTS and maintaining its laws” (Webster’s, 1828). The Patriot Act does the exact opposite of protecting your rights and maintaining your laws. Not one of the 535 members of Congress read the Patriot Act before signing it—not one!

Patriot Act Being Repealed

According to the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, 4 states, 353 cities and communities and a total of 55 million people are repealing the Patriot Act (www.bordc.org).

John Ashcroft Senator John Glenn proves the point when he said, “Americans just want to…not to be concerned if they can be constitutionally justified…Why, if we had to do that (follow the rule of our Constitution) we could not pass most of the laws we enact around here.”

Let Freedom Ring

Listen again to your founding forefather Benjamin Franklin when he said, “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.”

Because The Media Cannot Be Trusted

In 1772, Samuel Adams, in The Committee of Correspondence said:

1. Tell Americans their rights and how their rights have been violated.

2. Tell Americans what they should do because their rights have been violated.

3. Get flashes across the colonies.

Who said this? “How fortunate for those in power that people never think.” None other than Adolph Hitler!

How many candidates for the presidency were there in 2004? There were 15 candidates, but how many did you hear about?  Two or three, right? There are more than 303 million people in the United States and the media pushes only two or three candidates for you to pick from. Think about it.
