Knowledge in the Proper Perspective

In 1822, one of our founding forefathers, James Madison, said, "A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy; or perhaps, both.  Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".   Hosea 4:6 say, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge".  Knowledge is definitely power, but what kind of knowledge?

Can it be possible to expect the youth of this country to make moral and right choices, if they are not being taught to do so?  Can you honestly say that there are things in your life that you do that you would be ashamed to see your kids do?  What kind of knowledge are you equipping them with?  The only thing I see being taught to the kids is to be good lawbreakers, because they are not held in check. We are producing kids who have no fear or respect for the law, because there is a lack of knowledge towards the law, and we allow lawlessness to happen and call this “tolerance.”

Ecclesiastes 8:11 states; "Because sentence (justice) against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil".  If judgment was executed fully, people would respect the law, and not only that, they would honor and uphold it because they would understand that lawlessness only produces corrupt societies.  The problem is, people don't know the law of the land, and because of that, it can be broken without notice.  George Washington said, "The power under the Constitution will always be in the people".  How can it be under the "people" if the people don't know it?

As citizens, we have an awesome obligation and duty to know the law, and to produce a free society. If we won't be ruled by Law (God's Ten Commandments), we will only destroy ourselves because of a lack of absolutes.

I'll let you think on this:

They choose men, not because they are just men, men of religion and integrity, but solely for the sake of supporting a party. This is a fruitful source of public evils. But as surely as there is a God in heaven, who exercises a moral government over the affairs of this world, so certainly will the neglect of the divine command, in the choice of rulers, be followed by bad laws and as bad administration; by laws unjust or partial, by corruption, tyranny, impunity of crimes, waste of public money, and a thousand other evils. Men may desire and adopt a new form of government; they may amend old forms, repair breaches and punish violators of the constitution; but there is, there can be no effectual remedy, but obedience to the divine law.
